I had a wonderful day.
Simply wonderful.
I was going to put a cool picture of a sunrise on this post (thanks for the secret tmproff) but could not find a picture that would do justice to the amazing sunrise I witnessed this morning. It was overcast and the sky was that depressing deep shade of gray that makes you wish you never left your bed. (In addition, when I left my house this morning it was about 99.9% humidity AND hot....) Then, as I was driving to church the sun burst forth, except not in usual fashion or form. It simply split the gray sky in two, and breathtaking shades of reds and yellows spilled forth...
I can make the ugliest sky breathtaking...for your enjoyment, for your delight....
At church, our entire pastoral staff was surprised by a congregational presentation of appreciation. They had kept quite a secret from us, and had gathered together cards of appreciation, as well as an amazing bonus. A trip to a bed and breakfast in the Hill Country...
You are loved, valued, and appreciated. Let this Love transform you...
Then, after a visit from my two favorite girls, I got to visit a church I have never been to before, and meet new people. It was a wonderful evening (thanks Troy, Lauran, Alan, Joe, and Adam).
As unique and powerful as the service was, it was the simplicity of communion that moved me. Earlier, before arriving at the new church, someone had said to me that when we look into another person's eyes we are in the presence of God. With that thought mulling around in my heart, we came to the part in the service for communion.
The lady holding the bread looked into my eyes and said, "This is the body of Christ, broken for you."
There was no mistaking the YOU. He thought I was worthy enough to die for, for His body to be broken, battered and bruised. He believed that, and she knew it to be true.
This method of communion has been a personal favorite of mine for quite a while. But tonight, it touched me with new depth. I got a glimpse into my worth, my value, in the eyes of God.
And I am changed.
May the value He has placed upon your life resonate deep within you.

Thanks so much for sharing life with us tonight, Ashlee. And kudos on Switchfoot being a favorite band!
It was my pleasure, LK. Maybe we can do it again sometime soon!
I get worried thinking about you 2 getting together...the evil grin you 2 had getting out of your car on Sunday....I get shivers just thinking about it.
I can't speak for LK, but that "evil grin" you are referring to is much more of a permanent thing than one might realize.... ;)
Where's the fun in life if you're not wearing an evil grin? :)
I agree with many points. But in some areas, I feel we need to be more aggressive. Just my opinion. Love ya. off the shoulder wedding dresses?! cheap mobile phone. Flower Girls
