So, I had always planned on doing some kind of spectacularly insightful and humorous post when I made it to my fiftieth post....sorry, you will have to stay tuned for the 75th or some other random number I choose!
Loosing a child, in a accident, has got to be one of the things that makes people ask what kind of a loving God would allow such a thing...........
It evokes fear. Anger. Sorrow. Fear. Uncertainty. Disbelief. Fear. Sorrow. Great, unthinkable sadness.
To watch eight and nine year olds cry so long their eyes were swollen and red, only complicates things for others.
Yesterday, may have been one of the hardest days I will ever have to face as a teacher. To watch my students grieve, so deeply, brought back all those emotions I went through this weekend. It grieved my spirit even more than the initial news of Brandi's death, because I knew how this situation was going to mold and shape each of them for years to come. And I prayed, and pray, that it will mold and shape them in such a way that gives them insight into the true character of God.
And so, I share with you the amazing things God did in and for us yesterday...
In my precious third grade, the students were visibly upset. Lots of tears, lots of sadness. But we have been studying the book of Acts, and so God laid on my heart to share with them the burden they now have to care for each other. When your family is hurting, it is your job to do everything in your power to address those needs....
"How can we help each other?" was the question I posed to them. They answered a resounding answer of "prayer."
So, we split into small groups and prayed for those who were hurting.
As I traveled around the room to pray over students and answer questions they might have, I saw one group reading their Bibles. As I approached that group they were reading verses to each other. One boy asked me where it was in the Bible that spoke of their being a time for everything. When he found it, he read it to the class.
Amazing.
Third grade students, in the midst of a crisis situation, looking to God's Word for comfort. On their own, not directed by anyone, they know and believe God's Word to be the answer to this situation.
Do you?
Do you turn to God's Word when life doesn't make sense?
Do you find your comfort and refuge in the words He has spoken?
Do you allow His Word to speak to you, to your heart, to your soul?
Oh how I pray the answer will always be yes for you, and for each of my students....

The wisdom and faith of a child ... I could learn a lot from them.
i can't imagine that kind of pain... i wish i could have seen that, seen them cope with that. kids are amazing. i miss that faith and surity i had as a child. i will pray for you and the kids in your class, that you can get through this with faith.
It has been amazing to watch my children seek God through their pain.
Thanks for your prayers...
