I used to think my Daddy was the most amazing Dad on the planet.
I used to think there were no humans cooler than my Daddy.
I used to think my Daddy knew the answer to any question you could ever think of.
I used to think my Daddy loved me more than anything or anyone else on the planet.
I used to think there was nothing I could do that make my Daddy stop loving me.
I used to think I would marry someone just like my Daddy or not get married at all.
Oh, and I used to think my Daddy wrote the song, 'Take me out to the ballgame', and YES I even told other people that before my mother heard me and corrected me.
But now....
I know my Dad loved being a Dad more than most of the Dads my friends had, and more than I will ever be able to understand without children of my own.
I know there truly is no one else like my Daddy. God made only one of him, and I am blessed to have shared 27 years of my life with him (so far!).
I know my Dad often doesn't know the answer to any question on the planet, but he is humble enough to tell me that he doesn't.
I know my Daddy loves me more than I could ever fathom, with a love that is as close to unconditional as I will ever know this side of Heaven.
I know my Daddy illustrated one of the greatest principles of God's love to me from before I was born. My Daddy will never stop loving me, just as God's love, grace, and mercy know no end.
I know if I am lucky enough to ever met someone who resembles my Dad's character, I will marry him in a heartbeat.... and consider myself the luckiest girl on the planet.
I know my Dad did not write 'Take me out to the ballgame' but he does sing it better than anyone I know!
Happy Father's Day to all of the Dad's who might happen to stumble across this blog. And a special Happy Father's Day to Joe and Josh, two fathers who love their children in immeasurable ways.
