So, are you a procrastinator?

Okay, all you parents out there who read this blog, tell me how it works. When you get a flyer about an extracurricular activity you want to sign your child up for, do you mail it in right away?

Does it sit on your counter or hang on your frig until the registration deadline approaches?

Are you waiting until you know your child won't change their mind?

Do you want to see if any of their friends are also going to participate?

Someone, anyone, fill me in on why the waiting is SOOOOO popular?

Oh, yeah, people are holding on to their soccer registration forms like they are gold. We have no way of knowing how many kids are REALLY going to play with us this fall, and quite frankly I don't want to wait until the last week of August to have a better idea.

And so, the lesson about not getting my way, on my time line, is getting a bit old.

When will I be able to let this go? WHEN??!?!?!??!

they probably procrastinate for the same reason college students wait until the very last possible moment to write or paper or study for an exam. i think "procrastination" runs in our blood...it's something we're born with. and forgetfulness. i got a good dose of that. put procrastination and forgetfulness together and we have problems. and we have parents...too many things to do, get done, finish doing, etc. that signing a slip of paper seems like something that can wait. but then we forget, thus we procrastinate.

like right now, i forget i am work and i do be doing work. but instead i procrastinate and write on your blog so i don't have to do work.

sometimes, it's a good thing...

are you smiling yet??? cuz if not...i could go on rambling about something else...i'm a wild woman...
