Really, I do. Most people drink it just because they are trying not to drink all the sugar or calories of regular coke, but I actually love the taste, the fizz, and everything about diet Coke.
It is the only carbonated beverage I drink (unless I am unable to get diet Coke, I settle for diet dr.pepper, but only in a desperate pinch).
Some might even say I am addict to the fizzy beverage.
But every Friday night, I drink the same beverage. I will never forget when Alaina and Jadyn could "read" which bottle was diet coke, and how they clearly knew that it was my beverage of choice.
But recently, something happened that I will probably remember the rest of my life. Recently, probably due to the fact that there was no Sprite available for the girls, they were allowed to try diet Coke.
Last week, I went to lunch with Amber and the kiddos after a trip to Sam's. When Alaina saw the drinks available she turned to her mom and asked, "Can I have diet Coke?"
To which her mother responsed affirmatively.
She then turned to me and said, "Ashlee! We can BOTH have diet Coke!"
It was the look in her eyes. The elation over getting to share a common bond. The love it expressed.
And for some reason this ten second dialogue has not been able to leave my mind.
I just wonder if we share that same excitement over the bond we share with other believers...
I wonder how different my relationships would look if I celebrated the bond of Christ's blood instead of focusing on the differences that annoy me...
And I wonder how different the world would be if we all drank diet Coke?
