One of the perks...

Some days I am more aware of the fact that with each new day we get older.

On those days I see the gray hairs much more clearly.

And occasionally on these days I revel in the benefits that each passing day brings.

You see, with each new challenge you stumble through there is some wisdom or insight to be gained.

With each loss a deeper awareness of how precious each day truly is.

Perhaps one of the greatest treasures of aging is the way that time enhances friendship. Not all friendships increase in value over time, but those true, honest, life-long friendships become even more priceless.

So, the next time I am tempted to only see the gray hair side of (gasp) growing up, I am going to call one of these dear friends and tell them just how much their friendship is a blessing in my life.

What about you, what is your favorite benefit of growing up?

here is one of my favorite parts of growing up....for real now...

i love that i have lived and learned along the way. i look at some of the kids that come to camp (the older ones, like high school age) and i am just glad that i'm not there anymore...that i can think and make smart decisions and think of other people than myself. my perspective has changed dramatically...

and i know, i know...i'm still young and still learning, but i'm glad i'm going forward, not backward, you know?
