The beginning of August ushered in a whole new wave of excitement in my life.
Soccer has officially begun.
While to those of you who see me on a regular basis have heard me talking about soccer for months, August begins the actual hoopla that comes with running a youth soccer league.
From administrative tasks to field preparedness, August is the month it all starts to feel real.
And sometimes overwhelming.
And sometimes extremely divine.
We have something called the 100 days of prayer for our soccer season, which basically means we ask people to pray for the 100 days leading up to the last day of our season. I would imagine it is an easy thing to overlook in the midst of all the crazy.
Well, yesterday on the prayer list was "fields to be ready for the season, and beautiful weather all season" and down here in H-town we had us a little tropical storm. Yup, that is right.
Today, we are praying for "other volunteers to coach." And I am sitting here at church about to start a 1pm meeting with a total stranger who called yesterday to see if we still needed coaches. She said she wanted to coach her daughters team if that would be alright with me.
Sometimes I wonder if this whole 100 days of prayer thing isn't just for my benefit.
To remind me that He has everything under control.
That the hearts and salvation of the kids matter more to Him than I could ever hope to grasp.
And no matter how many times I lose sight of the eternal significance of this season, He never does.
It is all He sees.
Perhaps today's prayer line should have read, "Help those in leadership see only the eternal significance this season holds."
Amazed by His patience with His imperfect people...
