Well, I don't know if you would call it a "view" or not, but as of my typing this post my new desk, bookshelf, and *most* of my office items are in their new home.
And I couldn't be happier.
About 8:42 last night I thought it would never happen. N.E.V.E.R.
You see, I had tried to assemble the dang thing myself on Monday night, I mean, how hard can something be that doesn't even need words in the directions.
A-hem.
Well, words of any kind, even if in a different language might have been comforting. It was an ugly dark night, ending my ultimate frustration because my timetable was not going to be met.
Then last night, my resident IKEA expert (Amber) and her contract workers (Tami and Lisa, they work for coffee and chocolate) came to save the day.
Except at 8:42 it was looking pretty grim.
Dismal.
We were most definitely down by several touchdowns, and I was moments away from total surrender (and cursing IKEA in a very loud voice).
I am not sure what time it was when Tami finally discovered a tool that would help us to outsmart the bookshelf, but by 11:06 it was assembled, in position, and the contract workers were making a mad dash for the door! (Seriously, it is GREAT being my friend!)
Amber and I contemplated assembling the desk that connects to the shelves, but the reality that I had the leave the house at 6:15 began to sink in.
It was a night I think we will be talking about for years to come. What I love most about my new work space is that every time I see my new shelves I am going to be reminded of last night.
Of friendship.
Of sacrifice.
Of determination.
And of sawdust and dark chocolate peanut M&M's...
Thanks girls, you are simply the best!

All I did was break stuff and eat M&Ms, so, you're welcome- anytime. :)
Did the chair get figured out?? It's bugging me...
You didn't break anything...sheesh! I still can't figure the chair out, but am currently sitting in it at the level it was...
I will return it next week probably....but the wheels do work once the weight of a person is in the chair.....that is happy.
:)
funny girls :) i can only imagine the laughter...and chocolate.
i don't think every had dark chocolate peanut m&m's. they sound yum.
Oh Terri....never a dark chocolate peanut M&M????
Look for the purple bag.
Amber swears the peanut ones put the plain to shame, and after just consuming the remnants of that evening, I am finally converted...the peanuts make all the difference in the world.
Grab a bag, grab a case, buy them while you can!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Oh wait, that was a flash back to when they originally came out as a limited time only purchase...)
