The list maker in me is cringing as I type this next sentence.
Some times it is good to have a day where nothing gets crossed off your list.
(That was really hard to type. Honestly.)
Today, has been that day for me. Sure, I answered phone calls, returned emails, and did a couple of actual "work" related tasks, but largely today has been full of opportunities (or interruptions, however you want to see it!).
It started with three sweet friends, who have probably been friends longer than I have been alive, who stopped by the church. One of the ladies worships here, and she just wanted to show her friends her church. It was such an honor to be here, watch as she told about her church with pride, and answer their questions.
I am so blessed to know I have friendships like that in my own life. Where when one of us might have trouble getting around, we won't let that stop us from showing off what God is doing in our lives.
Then there was the delivery that went wrong.... but seeing God's hand in the situation, and seeing another member of our church provide the solution.
And then, my best friend discovered facebook chat! It was the sweetest, most soul satisfying conversation. I needed it more than I knew.
And, soon, I am going to head off to meet up with one of my fabulous volunteers for dinner. I am really looking forward to our time together, as I know God is up to something....
So, as this day starts to wind down, and nothing substantial got crossed off my list it is easy for me to dwell on those incomplete items.
But not today.
Today I am thankful for the gentle reminders that my job is not a "job."
Today I am reminded that people are more important than lists.
And today, I am counting the many blessings in my life.
