anyway

I came across this poem in the book I am currently reading (yes, I now have time to read books!!!) by Wayne Jacobsen, Authentic Relationship, the art of "one-anothering." He saw it on the wall of an orphanage, and it truly moved him.

The thing God has really impressed upon my heart recently is the absolute necessity of loving others above all us. The reality of how little it is happening in churches across our country is devastating. It is so clear in Scripture that this is what we are called to do, yet it seems that we allow so many other things to take priority over truly loving others.

anyway

People are unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered.
Love them anyway

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.

The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Be good anyway.

Honesty and frankness will make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.

People need help but may attack you if you try to help them.
Help them anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.
