BYOB&F

So, I probably haven't posted enough about how different my church is from any other church I have ever been a part of, so this post might come as a surprise to some of you who don't personally know me.

My church is different. Really different. There are people in our church who have actually been told they could not attend other churches for reasons such as the clothes the wear, the family they are from, or choices they have made or are living daily with. As unbelievable as that may sound, it happens more than we want to admit.

The great thing is God has brought together people with a different vision. One's with a heart for reaching those who are sick and hurting.

So, as wonderful as that is, sometimes there are hilarious things that happen that remind you just how long you have spent in "church" with people who say all the "right" things.

Sunday was one of those days for me.

I got a birthday invitation for one of my pre-schoolers. It's for his 3rd birthday. They are also combining the birthday party with a pre-indepence day celebration.

As any of you who have kids, or know people who do, must certainly understand birthday parties at this age are usually more about the parent's friends than the kids. So, I guess I was a little surprised this mom invited me.

As I opened up the invitation, I tried with all my might not to laugh out loud.

At the bottom it read: BYOB&F.

Bring your own booze and fireworks.

I love my church!
