He was covered in dirt.
His shirt was untucked.
The words seemed very hard to find.
Choking back tears, he talked about how much he loves the fans of Houston. He talked about how grateful he was to be an Astro.
He talked about playing the game the right way. Giving it your all, no matter what the score may be, regardless of whether your team was in contention.
He talked about making sacrifices to stay with one team for his whole career, and the sacrifices an organization has to make for that to be possible. He talked about the loyalty it requires, and how rare it is in sports today.
He joked with reporters. He talked about how old he is, and how sore his body was.
He talked about how massive the number 3000 is, and how he still couldn't fathom it being associated with his name.
He was typical, vintage Craig Biggio. Down to earth, thankful, and always aware of others, especially his teammates.
He reminded us all why, no matter how rough a season is, we will always be Houston Astros fans. And why when someone mentions the Astros, his name will forever be associated with this team.
Only 27 people in the history of baseball have accompished this feat. Today, at the age of 41, having only played for one team, Craig Biggio got hit 3000.
I am proud to be an Astros fan. And I am proud of the way the fans honored his career tonight. Here's to the Good Guys getting theirs......

I love that! I love baseball, especially when you have players like that! What a great accomplishment and what a great player and guy he truly is!
The whole game matched the magic of the evening too. Don't know if you heard about it up in KS, but his last hit was in the 11th with 2 outs....we ended up loading the bases and Carlos Lee hit a GRAND SLAM! What a magical evening.... just why baseball is such an incredible game!
