Sourdough Bread, Take Two....

So, it is quite obvious that the subject matter around this blog is not picked to bring in a vast readership.....

But those of you still hanging around here should not be too surprised.

Many moons ago Amber and I started to utilize a portion of our summer to create/make Christmas gifts. We were quite successful with projects ranging from ceramic mosaics to jewelry, to tamales and even photo/recipe books.

This summer, we have no project. (Or at least not one I am revealing to all of you...)

Unwilling to let this glorious tradition die, I am embarking upon an adventure on my own.

The Great Sourdough Adventure, if you will.

You see REAL sourdough bread is quite a unique thing. In order to get "real" sourdough bread one needs wild yeast. And to catch your wild yeast, one must keep the sourdough starter outside...

So, to keep you all in the loop, I am going to be posting a series of photos journaling my sourdough adventures. (Don't cheer so loud, your co-workers might wonder.....)

Sadly, I lost my first batch of sourdough starter to the fierce and unexpected afternoon rain storm.

So these pictures are actually from day one of the second batch....tomorrow we are hoping for bubbles!
Day One, Take Two.
So, if you live close enough you might get some homemade sourdough bread for Christmas!!!

That is so fun! So are you going to bake it and freeze if for Christmas??? Or does it take that long to get to the point of baking it??? Cant wait to see the progress. You might need to send me the recipe!

Well, I haven't finalized how it translates to Christmas presents quite yet.... but the starter should take three days for one batch of bread, then you have to keep feeding it to get more starter....

it will be an adventure!

Oooh a deleted comment. What kind of crazy sourdough commentary got deleted I wonder...

Is it the spammers? I get those now that I took the letter verification off.
