Talk amongst yourselves....

Over lunch today (at one of the three new mexican restaurants in our little country town of 3,000) the subject of blogging came up.

We have been trying to get my boss to keep a blog. He was posting with some regularity, but it was... well, how should we say this.... B.A.D. Yup, even I stopped checking it and I was trying to encourage his efforts...

Which lead me to a question only YOU my faithful blog readers can answer....

Why do you read the blogs you frequent? Or what makes a blog worthy of a return visit?

Come on, I need your help bloggy friends....spill your guts. You know you have an opinion about this.....

Aha, what a fun topic. You know I mention this whenever I have a chance.... "I use Google Reader, and it's wonderful..." I add my favorite blogs or sites and it shows me any updates all in one place! I keep blogs written by people I know in order to keep up with friends. If I come across a blog of someone that I don't know, I might add it if I can relate to their content (similar age and/or life experiences or experiences I'm interested in) plus I like their writing. Not necessarily just 'eloquent' writing, but interesting or real or emotional or thought provoking are also good.

I knew you would bring up google reader!!!! I just knew it!

So your criteria is:
-people you know
-content pertinent to you
-writing style (interesting, real, emotional or thought-provoking)

Correct?

Interesting....hmmmm....

Anyone else out there?!?!

That is correct. And blogs can get deleted if they no longer meet one of those as well. One friend and two strangers deleted (including the famous Anne Jackson) in the last month.

i lurk on quite a few blogs...if i know the blogger personally, i check regularly just to catch up with their lives, kids, jobs, etc.

if i don't know the person, it has a lot to do with similar life circumstances and writing style. there are a couple of blogs that i read that are women who are incredible writers and i am, at the very least, inspired by their faith in really difficult situations.
