My dear friend Lisa tidied (?), tidy-ed, straightened, oh what the heck...cleaned up the ol' blog for me! Now the dramatic red I just HAD.TO.HAVE. several months ago is gone away and we have a fresh coat of white to mark all over.
Yes, this would be the same Lisa that magically made it all red the last time I got this whim!
I know how to pick friends....yes, I do!
(Like how I rambled on and on and never actually said, "thank you"? This ain't 'Ramblings' for nothing!!!)
Okay, back to the point of the second blog of the day-not that any of you are counting!- carpet cleaners.
We had a wee bit of a flood here this weekend and the church got a good soaking. Sunday morning we had water in the building, which wasn't too much trouble because we have cement flooring in our entire building...except for one room.
Well, turns out getting the mildewy smell, and moisture all together out of the carpet and building is a bit harder than I anticipated.
With the help of Amber (via cell phone) I gathered a large variety of Oust, carpet cleaners, and Oxy Clean to attempt to solve the problem.
Here is my frustration.
Why, oh why would you sell carpet freshner that smells like rain or fruit? Seriously, how does either of those scents help the mildew smell? Or for that matter, how does either of those smells help pet odor?
Where is the mountain breeze, or clean sheets, or heck even vanilla would have been better than those choices.
I will report back on if I was able to conquer the odor in our 7500 square foot building or not.
Anyone have any secret tips to clean mildew odors or damp carpet?

Hooray for your friend picking abilities!! :)
I had a mildewy carpet situation due to a barfing dog this weekend. Luckily it was on an area rug, and after several rounds of cleaning the area, I finally had to prop the area off the ground all day so it would dry fully. I don't guess this helps if the carpet is the installed-glued/tacked down kind. But it's the only thing that worked for me.
Ooh at work they used a big fan and a dehumidifier after Ike. It took a long time but it worked.
