So, today was Popcorn day at my school.
I know it doesn't sound extraordinary, or blog-worthy, but it was for me.
You see, this summer God pricked my heart with the water crisis facing Africa. He challenged me to instill missional hearts in the students He has entrusted to my care. And so, my prayer has been that He would use me to open their hearts up to the world around them....
And in the process He has opened mine.
My students have been raising money to build a well in Africa. Our goal is to raise enough money to completely fund the building of a well. It is truly the gift of life in a country that is so poverty stricken.
My students have done such incredible things already. Their hearts are so open to His leading, His prompting.
One day I just remember praying that if God would use this year to write missions on the heart of just one of my students it would be worth all the coins I have been counting!!!!
Back to popcorn. So, one of my ideas was to sell popcorn (you know, the good fresh out of the popcorn machine popcorn) to our student body. After getting the proper approval, I sent a letter out to all 160 students telling them that if they ordered popcorn today, all the money would go towards our Well Project.
In my wildest dreams, I thought there was a very outside chance that we could sell 100 bags.....but really I thought 80 was going to be a pretty outstanding number.
We sold 200 bags of popcorn.
That is right. 40 more than we even have students attending our school.
And why I am amazed that God would bless that which He ordained?
Why am I overwhelmed at His faithfulness?
In the midst of it all, He spoke affirmation and peace into my life....someone said to me, "You are raising up Timothys."
And I am completely humbled.
That God, the Alpha and Omega, could be glorified through popcorn....
That He would choose to use me (Miss Never-been-out-of-the-country-except on a cruise-never done a missions trip-Liddell) as an instrument to plant seeds of missions in the hearts of His children....
Amazes me.
God did a miracle at our school today, and I am just thankful I didn't miss it!

That is really neat. I checked out that website- it looks really cool. I didn't know Jars of Clay was doing it.
It's really neat to hear the ways God works through for these kids.
